Favourite goosegogs?

I love 'em particularly the culinary types eaten raw (just one of my peculiar habits!! ;)) Have just planted 3 Invictas and am sure that a. they won't produce enough to feed my habit and b. I've room for a few more. So, the question is...what are peeps own culinary favourites? I want reliable heavy croppers - well who doesn't?

Can't help you I'm afraid as I inherited 3 unnamed bushes when I took on my first plot.  My sis has brought me a red fruited one for my (fast approaching) birthday, but I don't yet know the name.

I like you, simply adore goosegogs and only a few made it home this year.....I ate them as I weeded!

Hi Plottie...the latest varieties have been developed as disease and pest resistant, i.e. sawfly and mildew, but I'll believe that when I see it.Xenia are red and the catalogue 'says' bigger than Invicta.My own, and grown as espalier are 'careless'.A joke,been going years, the local auctioneer, when goosegog plants are for sale, someone say's "what are they", and he replies " I couldn't care less. Groan.

Goosegogs are on my wish list if and when I get my Lottie, I remember as a kid nearly everyone’s garden in our neighbourhood had at least one bush.
I presume you can buy these as a small potted plant? So the question is how long before I can collect a decent harvest of Goosegogs? ;D

I have recently ordered a couple of bushes, Leveller. These come bare rooted for delivery around about now. Mine cost me £5.45 delivered and are a few years old with 20cm of bare stam under the bush.

I am expecting a small crop next year but then full crops going through the next few years.

Hi... I planted "Invicta" last late Autumn and had a small crop  this year,it rooted easily and made a fair bit of growth so here's hoping for a good future crop....Alan

Thanks for your replies guys......have just discovered more varieties than I knew existed on the R V Roger site (rvroger.co.uk) so I'll be in goosegog heaven choosing from there!!
