Oh my.........mine are little green and yellow infants at the moment, still subject to the vagaries of the weather. This looks to be about readyfor picking and roasting. I am drop dead jealous! :o

Jeannine

Excellent, he is going to make his correct weight , well done XX Jeannine

Are you also tempted, Manics, to take your bathroom scale outside and weigh your monster?
The handle on your recliner does not qualify as an exercise machine.

manicscousers

may take the luggage scales, Grannie,
this is definitely the fastest and the most mental plant, planted on a pit of 18 month old chicken muck with a tyre around it ..seems to have kept the plant warm  ;D

Jeannine

Weigh it and put out a challenge for next year, but make sure the final weight is the day it is picked and before it starts to lose any moisture, they weigh less as they get  older. I shall be very interested to see what it weighs and see how close  it is to official weight.XX Jeannine

can I pick it now? it's stuck itself into the ground quite near to the fruit so I couldn't get the scales under it yet?

Jeannine

I wouldn't unless you really want to eat it,  they get sweeter on storage so I would save it for a bit anyway after it is picked.Personally I would leave it till the leaves start to wither, quite a way yet,  but you have to decide that, are there anymore on the plant? XX Jeannine

I had it hidden in a carrier bag, they all think I'm crazy already  ;D

Jeannine

Very astute of them!

I think I'll leave it another month before I skulk in there again, it's getting quite overgrown as the squash bed also has sunflowers in it  ;D

Digeroo

Amazing.  I grew this variety last year and they were all rather small.  So far this year there is a lack of fruit on my squashes.  I  need to water them more.
