Tearing my hair out with BT.

Some of you know I am moving soon.

Phoned BT last Thursday to change address and phone number to new address.

After spending ages answering all their questions and several long intervals listening to music she finally said she could not upload my information. She said someone would get back to me.

This afternoon still no return call.Rang them and they said my order had been cancelled  ???Then she said she could not say anymore as I had not got my account number to hand.

After searching for a bill with the number on .through several packed boxes rang again.

Started to give info again and they said they needed a manager to get back to me............He will ring tomorrow.Yes like I have been through that one before.

I do not know what the heck is going on and I am still none the wiser.

I have never had a problem with BT before,I have been with them for years but they are really messing me about .

Rant over. >:(

Poor you Den  >:(as if moving isn't stressfull enough!
I hate it when they say they'll get back to you,how long before you get back to THEM ,and then you have to recite all you information again and you can hear them filing their nails while you do it.I'm with Talk Talk who I have to say are pretty good and very cheap but on Saturday when I had  problem I phoned their helpline and my phone mysteriously went dead after 20mins,it came back on next day but I had visions of a supervisor somewhere in India pulling out plugs to lessen the workload or am I just cynical ;)
Good luck with your move :)

Posting a message on this forum got my partner's longstanding BT problems sorted out quickly as they don't want the adverse publicity on the net!

Thanks for the support.

I tried to access that website but it would not take my password .Tried several times.I think I have the Gremlins. :)

I tried again today as they still had not called back.

I found an angel called Chris in their warrington office. She had the same problems but she did not give up on me and kept calling me back to tell me how things are progressing.I now have it all in place including new telephone number.I am def gong to make a complaint about the way I have been treated but I asked to speak to Chris's manager to praise her and her professionalism. ;D

Hi Betula,

So glad to hear it's finally getting sorted out.

Hope the rest of your move goes well and there are no more major glitches.

I hate BT too and my guess is the reason for your problems is why I hate BT.  The account is in the name of my OH and they refuse point blank to deal with me.  If he confirms that he agrees on the phone it is Ok.  Which means they are prepared to accept any male voice, but not the female spouse of the account holder.  They refuse to set up a joint account since they say they do not have the facilities for that.

I have set up an internet account.  I did it.  I pay for it, but now they will not talk to me because the name of the phone account to the house is my husbands, as they set it up in my husbands name.

Sorry Betula but BT has gone information security mad and as the spouse my guess is that you have been excluded.

Girls we need to fight for equal rights.  Anyone seen any railings?

Hi Dig,no the account is in my name so that was not the problem.

However Sky refused point blank to speak to me as that account is in his name.

Luckily the line is open till 11pm so he can ring them tonight.

I agree this security stuff has hit a new level.

Betula - I think the picture of the cat you have on your posts sums things up nicely  ;)

I have had the same problem with male female voice checks. Got my son to say he was my husband once when oh was unavailable. Ridiculous.
Sometime ago I heard of a gadget which changes your voice.   Don't know how true it is. I would love to have one.

Sky is in my husband's name but you can elect to have a password on the account.  We have and recently I had to ring them to sort out appointments for reinstalling equipment at new address.  You will have to get your husband to set up a password but as long as you tell them you have a password on the account (they don't often look for this) you will be able to change the account at your will.

Bt is in my name, we are moving in 3 weeks time and after a 20 minute call to them all was done and dusted, no engineers have to come because the new address is on the same exchange so it can be simply transferred the day before moving as it takes up to 24hrs to activate.
