Some of my purple sprouting brocolli is looking very sick. The top of the plant has gone yellow and floppy, looks like its been Roundupped, but with black patches on the stems. Other plants seem unaffected. Have pulled out and burnt the sick looking plants, but am worried it might be club foot, which I think means you cant grow on the same patch for 20 years?

A friend suggested they might just be frost damaged, but I thought they liked the cold?

Ours didn't look very happy last week. I put it down to the bout of severe weather we had. Broad beans are not so good either. They had started to shoot from the bottom but even those shoots are brown now.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I'd reckon it's just the cold... pull the sickest and if you have club root it will be obvious, very swollen roots... cut through the root though as there are some grubs that have a similar effect, if no maggoty things then you have a problem.

Thanks, thats reassured me a lot! Roots look normal.

Some of mine looks very sad indeed.  I am hoping at least some plants have survived enough to produce something.

ditto - my previously biggest and brightest now looks almost leaf free.  Smaller ones look a little happier though.

A couple of mine had rotted halway up the stem, I couldn't tell until I touched them so the frosts and snows had done their worst. Others still look a bit sad but seem to have firm stems so hopefully they will pick up! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴
