Hi

thinking of sweet potatoes for this year's adventure veg - any tips about growing in the colder climate we have up here would be much appreciated - eg what variety to choose, can we grow outside or does it have to be polytunnel?

Beechgrove garden grew theirs in a polytunnel too and had a good success rate - far better than Joe's efforts on his London allotment.

I was thinking it would be the polytunnel - I had some really nice ones from sainsbury's last year, they were purple - anyone know what variety they would be?

Did you grow them in pots/potato bags or in the soil in the polytunnel?

Am in Newcastle and would love to try them.

thanks
