Thinking about growing some of my earlies and salad potatoes in containers - mainly bags this year, what results have others had from growing this way?

grew some pfa in containers last year and got a fantastic yield so will be doing it again this year.
you may be a king or a little street sweeper but sooner or later you dance with de reaper.

It was my first attempt at growing potatoes in containers last year and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the quantity of potatoes.  :(  I expected to tip the tub out and find it full - maybe I was expecting too much.

Quality was fine though, they were delish.  :)

spuds are very hungery and need a lot of feed in containers to give a big yield.

I have grown spuds in bags-not so keen, in black plastic bins-great-worked really well - (not huge yield for size of bin but I didn't know about feeding and stuff then!) and in tyres-this way worked best as I learned about earthing up (adding another tyre and filling that with soil) and got a much greater yield than from the bins.  ;D
Don't throw paper away. There is no away.

I grew nearly all my potatoes in bags last year, with good results (I extended my veggie patch from grass and wire worm is a problem here) I used a mix of garden soil, compost and manure. I agree they are hungry feeders and find it best to mix some in when planting. Watering is a bit of a pain, but if they are mainly earlies it should not be too bad. Harvesting is a doddle though.

I found it worked well for me and will do some in bags again. Might be a bit fiddly for others just depends on your needs.
