Which crops do you need to produce large yields to meet your needs.

I always think I've planted enough onions and garlic, rund out, and end up buying 'em.  We use them in practically everything - salads, stir fries, curries, quiches, soups, casseroles, you name it, we chuck in an onion and some garlic.  So this autumn I have planted so much of both that our house will be an entirely vampire free zone next year.

Also wonderful Black Kale or Cavolo Nero which we use almost as much of.  Oh yes and my world would not be complete without loads of carrots, but sadly can only grow em in a soil filled bath so am limited by the size of the bath!!!  And large yields of strawberries and raspberries are always welcome, so I try to have as many of them as I can.

What I would like to have large yields of is beans....any kind, any variety.  This year I planted loads AND DID NOT GET A SINGLE ONE!! The Cornish rains in July and August saw to that, helped by the usual army of slugs and snails which accompany the monsoons.

Not a luxury item in sight, always said I was low maintenance!!!!

If you always do what you always did you'll always get what you always got!

I'm a bit of an onion/shallot/garlic addict myself. Always have at least 2 of my 7 deep beds devoted to them. Sadly this year rust halted the growth of my garlic and I still have n't planted next years yet - too wet and too much to do.  My onion sets went in later than usual and they have not grown as well nor seem to be keeping too good either :'( :'(

Rabbits got all of my winter veg in one way or another too - but I usually aim for lots of leeks, PSB and sprouts too.

Never have room for enough spuds - just mamage a few earlies.

If we had room I'd grow triple the amount of red raspberries.
And for some reason my parsley is always too skimpy- or zero.

Why don't you answer your own question, Plainleaf? What do you need large crops from? I'd like more apples myself, but they'll come in time.
