Parsnip gone to seed?

It appears one and only one parsnip has gone to seed which surprised me since they were all planted the same time this Spring.  The seed head is still green and I'm wondering if the seed will be viable, and if so when do I pick it considering we've had some light frosts, plenty of rain and more to come next week so it seems it won't ever dry out.  Should I save it???

i don't think you should save these seeds as you would be saving seed of an early bolting plant which would most likely pass its characteristics on to its offspring, which you don't want really.

id still be tempted to,even just a couple,in the name of experimentation!
when the going gets tough, the tough go digging

It looks like I won't be saving 2 bucks on seeds then. But maybe I'll try an experimental few IF I CAN REMEMBER TO LABEL THEM!

you can always leave one of the good ones to let it go to seed next year. i plan to move one early in the spring to a weedy part of the garden so i can collect seed next year.
