With difficulty.......as long as the seeds are black, they are ready, I just got stuck in with my fingers and squeezed the flesh until they popped out of the little cases they are in! ;D

that's what i did too a couple of weeks ago.

i cooked shark fin soup vege only, but would like to try something different tomorrow.

i'm thinking of baking the next one whole, then plan to stir fry some veges and to toss in the cooked squash near the end. then toss the lot in a sweet and sour sauce, what do you think?

Unfortunately me and my OH aren't keen - but didn't find that out until I managed to grow about 8 of the blighters for the first time this year!! Still, at least my neighbours continue to belive I am incredibly generous (which of course, I am).  ;)

I confess I made soup out of most of mine, we really like noodle chilli soup here! I tried baking some but it isn't the most flavoursome squash, but in soups it fragments into noodle like strands and is at its best.

If it's like the Spaghetti Squash then it's quite good baked with sauce inside it......

Does it get "stringier" with age OH asks?  :-\

A google search suggests that it is a type of spaghetti squash and spaghetti squash recipes should be suitable.

its has a sweet like taste reminiscent of a melon.

it turned out quite well, with some homemade vege sushi as well.

don't think I'll grow it again though, its too darn hard to get into and there is so much in one squash, even a family of five finds it hard to eat all.

maybe I'll grow it if I can find a Chinese restaurant who'll buy it from me. There are a couple in the area.
