Tomato blight

Lost all my tomatoes in my garden to blight when I went away last weekend  :(.  Luckily ones at the lottie okay  :).  I know not to put the blighted plants in the compost bin, but would it be alright to use the spent grow-bags when I repot my minarette apple trees?  Or will the blight get to them too?

I think blight only survives on living plant tissue so you should be OK to reuse the compost. Also OK to compost the tomatoes provided they really get broken down in the heap. AFAIK.

Correct. But it's important you have a hot heap. Most peeps don't.

There's far too much burning of stuff on allotments.

Hot or cold, all that matters is that all the tissue from susceptible plants (toms, spuds and aubergines) is dead. The thing to be careful of is spuds from last year growing. There's a possibility blight may be spread by seed potatoes - it's a problem in the States - but I can't tell without knowing what degree of infection is allowed in seed exposed for sale.
