I want to buy and plant a small area with flowering shrubs,
when is the best time to buy and do this now or spring??

thanks for any help.

Flighty

It obviously depends on what shrubs but generally now whilst the ground is still warm. It gives the plants time to settle in before they go dormant over the winter then burst into life in the spring!
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

I thought the same Flighty, the ground is certainly warm, but in my part of the country, very dry,
will start and do my 'research' as to which plants.
thanks a lot

Hi Widge, good luck with your new border. Make sure you water really well before you plant anything.....the dryness will go down a fair way.

Hopefully Mother Nature will take over in the next few weeks by giving us some sky tears ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Poppy Mole

I have just dug up my lawn (which was masquerading as a weed patch) & planted a dozen diferent small flowering shrubs & put bark chips all around the bare earth with masses of crocus & anemone as well.
So far the shrubs still look healthy!
