we hung a hanging basket full of blighted tomatoes in there, didn't last long  ;D
also we put bales of straw in there at regular intervals..plus piles of either grass cuttings, leaves in autumn or wood chips when we can get them  :)

Anisemary

They like gnarled tree branches to perch and preen on.

Hi Snackman

I bought 3 bales of straw and put two length ways and one accross with wood as well so they have a staged "viewing area"! They can also use the gap between the 2 lower ones as a hidey hole!   They do enjoy getting up a bit higher and the straw will come in useful in deepest winter to keep their enclosure slightly less muddy!

I generally always give them some greenery hanging from a rope so that they have to jump for the higher bits!

I have made a small corner "enclosure" at ground level and filled it with bought garden compost which lets water through and doesn't "clump" for their dust bath.  You could also use sand or similar!

I also in one of the other corners rigged up a "dry area" with protection from rain from the west and over the top.  I keep one of their feeders in there too.  It is only made of wood with plastic sheeting over the top and side!

Their favourite place though is under the house which I have lifted up about 2ft and where I hang another feeder - which is also dry - unless the wind is coming from the east - which is unusual!
