1st time for winter onions

MY PLAN IS TO PLANT WINTER ONIONS NEXT MONTH
do i give them some fertilizer at planting time  {growmore or fish blood & bone? }   or is it better to wait till spring
to give them a boost !!

I'd leave them until the end of Sept. or the middle of October... too much growth before the frosts can be damaged...  :-X
