In last night's programme, Valentine Warner thought raspberries were preferred to strawberries.  I agree with him but far more strawberries are bought in the UK than raspberries.   I believe it is because they are cheaper.

What do you prefer?

Well I like rasberries but if I had to choose it would be strawberries every time. ;D

Equal for me but I must add that his apricot upsidedown cake is glorious esp if made with fruit fresh from the tree.

When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

thifasmom

gimme both in equal quantities, ripe off the plant and in season, yep greedy thats me ;D

non-stick

I prefer raspberries but a sun warmed fresh strawberry is rather good.

I can't watch that programme - it suffers too much from let's not focus on what he is doing but wizz round all over the place camera work. Something that blights many programmes these days

I think the reason more strawberries are bought than raspberies is that raspberries are so much easier to grow, so we grow our own. ;D.  All the hassle of rooting runners of strawberries, and replacing stock every thre years is just too much.

The punnets of strawberries are much larger, and usually have special offers (bogofs).  When you see what you are expected to pay for a very small punet of raspberrries it's no wonder we grow our own.

I think strawberries would be my favourite, but it would be a close run thing

Yes, those big packs of large strawberries look nice in the shops, and seem so cheep when in season, and strawberries and (ice)cream is so traditional it is no wonder they sell more, even though the rasberries taste so much better.
It's a closer thing with my own grown, but rasberries still come out in front, and miles better than any shop bought.   :)
If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

You can not beat an English strawberry.I only eat them when they are in season here :)

Either but as long as they are home grown (cant stand shop bought ones, unless I can pick em in the field)

Never really been in to rasps from the shop, but then grew some myself and WOW, thanks Aldi. Variety i have is Glen Ample.
