My cherry tomatoes are very sour.  Got the seeds free from Gardeners World magaine, I think.  Is there anything I can do to sweeten them up, feed them with something?

Apart from the usual high Potash feed, a bit of sunshine wouldn't come amiss!!

But you may find that they improve as they get into their stride.

Temp 20 degrees and sun shining in Scotland just now!  Maybe I should take the shading off the greenhouse???  Put shading up (homemade, rough and ready) early on as weather was scorching. Do you think it's time to take it down now?

A neighbour of mine was complaining about bitter toms the other day. He blamed the flood, but floods always get blamed for everything. Even the greenhouse toms have blight now, and it's all down to the flood!

I remember back in 2003 my neighbour had an extra growbag and tom plants so he gave them to me to grow some cherry toms for my daughter. His cherries tasted disgusting bitter and just plain horrid, they were inedible, mine were fine. they were the same variety (? which) and the same brand growbag and both lots were grown outdoors. the only difference is I'm sure he would have fed his where as I didn't and his ripened before mine, up to this day neither of us could figure out why his were inedible :-\.
