Growing carlingford potatoes

I've just been googling these potatoes. There is an offer in the Telegraph for & it says they are ready in 2 months & can be left in the ground until needed. Is this correct & does that mean you can leave them over winter or lift & store?

I planted them in August last year and finished lifting them in January.  I covered them with fleece when the frosts came early but the tops got frosted eventually.  I left the fleece on until I dug them up.  There were one or two marble-sized tubers near the surface that had got frosted and were soft but the rest were fine.

Not sure.  The reason they stayed in the ground until January was because it was too frozen to dig them up, so we had it cold even down here.  What might make a difference is your soil type.  Mine is very light and free-draining so less risk of them rotting.

Thanks for that. I have just seen in Dobies catalogue a potato planter late season refill pack of 5 tubers each of Carlingford, Vales Emerald and Maris Peer (cat 47 90 15) for £6.95. Unfortunately there is postage and packing of £3.95, but that is for any size order.
