Now that's a contradictory request...
easiest at this time are the "Boltardy" types and Detroits...
Best tasting things like Golden and Choggia, but they lack the colour. I find "Bulls Blood" the best colour but...
On balance Detroit Little Ball.....

hi

i'm still germinating and planting out beetroot, also have put seeds straight out to the plot (not sure what type though)  i find they are really easy to grow and taste lovely, don't really do much except water them. don't know if i've just been lucky as its my first year growing

Detroit is fine to direct sow now.  Excellent harvested as baby beetroot.  I will be sowing more this weekend into cell trays to give them a head start.

We sow regularly all through the summer
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

QuoteChioggia and Burpees Golden

Just sown some of these.  Chitted them first,  Golden germinated really well this time.  Don't know why beetroot are red when the yellow ones so much tastier.  Crop smaller, so expect it is a matter of profit for the commercial growers.

They like lots of water, and be sure to draw the soil up over the roots as they grow. Will be sowing my last batch this week.

A good tip to aid growth is water the soill with Tomato fertiliser a day before sowing.

I sowed some more Boltardy today, I've been sowing in batches for the last eight weeks.   ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Had roast beetroot for tea.  Delicious.  Red and yellow.  Very Pretty.
