rootstock for a plum?

is there a smaller rootstock that would be ok for a plum than pixie,
i think pixie will grow to about 9ft? (how long would it take to get to that height?
i was thinking if poss to get something that will go to maybe 6/7 ft

You want a M9 Rootstock.  They grow 7-9ft.  M27 Rootstock will grow 12ft.  Most varieties are available as M9.  Usually, the smaller the growing height.... the more expensive the tree

Think M9 etc may just refer to apples rather than plums.
Anyhow, yes you can restrict the roots but you can also prune them to keep them shorter, and if you read up on festooning you can try that to control the height.

Plums are a different genus to apples, and won't grow on an apple rootstock. So you can't use M9 or M27.
