Ginger

I've got a couple of ginger plants grown from supermarket ginger. One has 1 shoot on it & the other 2. Would you plant it outside in the garden or in a pot & where would you have it sunny or shaded.

I kept one going over the warmer months in my conservatory, but it succumbed to winter, so I'd guess outdoors is too risky - if I grew another I'd nurture it as a houseplant.

I planted one a month ago in my greenhouse and it an inch high now. My wife planted one, keeps it on the windowsill and it's 9 inches high. Not sure what to do with it now though.
