Have just received a blight alert text for my area.
I thought it was very likely this weekend so had sprayed my tomatoes on Friday luckily.

Good luck everyone!!

Seems to get earlier every year.

Still has to spread yet. I'll be holding off spraying for now.

That's one in May and one in June. Nothing to worry about. It's when we get a string of them that the disease starts spreading.

With the BBC giving heatwave with thunderstorms for the week ahead it could possibly be dodgy I guess.

However my local forecast has now reduced the projected humidity from 95% to 40 - 60% for Monday and Tuesday it looks like a possible false alarm

After losing my entire tomato crop last year I am tending to be over protective this year though!

Ive cut the tops off my Lady Chrystal last week, the looked sick. Still harvesting nice spuds though.

I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

That was a bit too close for comfort Davyboi, you're not that far from me!

It is actually potato blight that one can get alerts on which is the main culprit for transfer of blight to tomatoes grown outdoors  mainly.

The site is run by the potato council and the blight watch alerts are free by signing up at http://www.blightwatch.co.uk/

I have just looked at the potato council site and there is no mention there of RT17.  Their nearest is CT7.

So are they telling you that the weather conditions are right for the spread of blight?

What do you use to spray?  Did it work last year?
