Hello,

I have 200 tomato plants in 1.5 litre pots.

I have not fed them anything yet.
I have them in a potting compost that says "not suitable for lime hating plants".

They are yellowy/green colour, and not very big.

Question 1. What's wrong with them? Is it that they need feeding or something wrong with the PH or a mineral imbalance?

Question 2. When will the vegetative state end, and how will I know?

See what they look like by clicking here:

200? Professional? You've grown them before??

Where are they? When did they go into the pots?

1.They do NOT need feeding yet.
2. How are you watering? At that stage, about a pint every few days?
3. The pots are too small - I suggest - for full growth.

they may need a feed but i would let someone with more experience with pampering toms answer that one, mine are simply bunged into the soil outside mid May to June weather permitting and i prepare the soil before hand so the most i need to do is water when there is a prolonged dry spell.

I'm not sure what you mean.

Blimey - My better half thinks Im nuts with 30 plants.  200 would cover my entire plot.

They dont look that bad just small - tom4 looks just fine
When did they go in - it looks like a couple to three weeks ago?
Where are they - indoor/outdoor/greenhouse

Im not sure what you mean by vegatative growth as toms will continue to grow during the flowering period - If you mean when will they flower then I would say you are still several weeks and a good bit of growth away yet.

It looks as if you may have stated a little late - I would expect to have flowers if not the start of fruit on most of my plants.

I would agree with Tim that you will need to up the pot size.  My garden toms are in Wicks 99p buckets!
Moved to Portugal - ain't going back!

Apart from them being a bit late they look fine to me-they will need to be potted on in due course.

And it`s a bit late to be selling them -I sow hundreds every year and by mid May I`m glad to see the back of them.

But I recover when I see the frut on those I grow for myself :)

Those tomatoes look fine  :) Sometimes when you grow them undercover then they can look a little pale. Also it depends on the variety of tomato you are growing.

Are you growing Heirloom types?

And 200  :o thats a heck of a lot of tomatoes.
