I don,t believe there are any laws relating to the use of catapults on private land but i should think there would be some thing with regard to allowing a projectile to exceed the boundaries of the private land.
The local bye laws usually cover things like .........

Prohibition upon games and other acts in streets
9. No person shall -
(a) roll a hoop, fly a kite, shoot with a bow and arrow or catapult, discharge fireworks or throw
a stone, stick or other projectile in, onto or across a street, or
(b) do anything in a street which may endanger the life or safety of any person, animal or thing
or may be a nuisance, obstruction or annoyance to the public unless such street is provided
with clear signs and identifiable paving and street furniture which distinguishes it as
"residential erf" or "street park".

I`d say it could be an offensive weapon, I looked in wikipedia and found this.

QuoteDefinition of Offensive Weapon
Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 Codes of Practice A22 'Offensive weapon' is defined as any article made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person, or intended by the person having it with him for such use or by someone else. There are three categories of offensive weapons: those made for causing injury to the person; those adapted for such a purpose; and those not so made or adapted, but carried with the intention of causing injury to the person. A firearm, as defined by section 57 of the Firearms Act 1968, would fall within the definition of offensive weapon if any of the criteria above.

A catapult and a few small stones, marbles or ball bearings could do considerable damage to property or personal injury.

It could alos be linked to threatening behaviour. Collect video or photographic evidence and keep a diary,

Ooo, a catapult, I hadn't thought of that.  I'm just going to wander over to the 'cat's toilet' thread .......  :P ;D

I spotted a catapult for sale in one of our local cheapie shops the other day. Along with a cap pistol with a silencer! What's the point of a cap pistol if you can't hear the bang???
