The comfrey plants grown from roots (sent to me by froglegs-thanks again!) are grwoing well and the strongest is about 4ft tall now. How do I know when to cut it?

I cut mine after flowering as the bees love it!

Mine flowers early - from the end of April - so I have to then wait until after the bees have had their fun.

Probably won't cut down the main crop until July as a result
What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about?

Some Comfrey self seed easily, so cutting before flowering stops you having loads all over the place... Some like Bocking 14 don't which is one of it's advantages...  :-\

I've got a plant but I don't know if it's Bocking 14 or ordinary comfrey...got it from garden centre as herb just labelled comfrey. Is there a way of telling?

Cut it yesterday-and leave the container next to some sweet peas-well something has to mask the pong???

Well, mine is already flowering, but it is Bocking 14 so that's ok. Do I cut it right down to the ground?

Unwashed

Cut mine last week.  It goes over naturally after it's flowered.  Popped it all on the compost heap.  I get a second cut later in the summer.
