I always grow the large sweet corn, but would like to try the mini ones I usually buy from the Supermarket.    (The last pack from Tesco was sourced from India !!)

Can anyone tell me how many of the mini sweet corns I should expect on each plant, if its only a couple on each, then I wonder if it is good use of the ground.   Also at what stage should these mini sweet corns be picked.    Are they picked before they mature ?   And how do we know?

I know it is too late for this year, but thought I would ask the question while it is fresh in my mind.

We use "minipop" and sow about 30 plants. You get up to 20m "cobs" per plant and are a good use of space. They are picked as soon as you notice them. You don't wait for them to swell!  :)

Thank you Saddad.    Sounds good and will try them next year.

I'll have to try some of those - 20m cobs per plant? Shouldn't need too many.... ;D
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

Where did that m come from? 20 mini cobs....
Now the Mexican White I have is supposed to produce 2' cobs, but I doubt it will actually get that far...  :-\

Is it to late to sow minipop?

No, it has a much shorter season, as you don't need to wait for the cobs to swell..  :)

Just a quick addition as one who has grown Minipop before and did not realise this (and planted them in a tub! ::).....the plants are full sized (ie up to 6') not mini! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴
