I got seeds for both of these from a gardiner's magazine, but they say they are for outdoor growing only - I grew both last year (different seeds) in my greenhouse - anyone know what the difference is?

Hi Meg,
I'm  no, expert  :-\ only been at this growing lark for 3 years, and I've always grown the GD outside, I've wonderful crops off them , so last year grew more varieties outside (due to the fact I had no room in the greenhouse for them)Marmande being one of them, unfortunately they all succumbed to blight :-[.

so don't take up space in the green house for GD, they do fine outside......as for Marmande !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!sorry can't help there, but I'm sure the guys on here will answer you.

Life is to short !!!

I grow both of these varieties, both indoor and outside. indoor for earliness and protection, outdoor 'cos I run out of room indoors!!
both are fine!! ;)
You couldn't make it up!

Ninnyscrops.

I didn't have much luck last year with my indoor Marmandes so this year they are outdoors along with the GD's.

I have stopped growing outdoor tmatoes cos for the last 3 years they have succumbed to the dreaded blight.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I have about 5 other types of toms for the greenhouse, so I will try the GD and marmande outside.  I am in the west of Scotland though, so we dont have as long a summer for ripening - but I am POSITIVE we are going to get a lovely summer this year - so here goes :)

Thanks for the help guys.

Meg
