When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

getting too hot, shirl?
You couldn't make it up!

Check them at soil level!

They are prone to 'neck rot' and this is where it manifests itself.

I used to grow mine on mound so that when I water the water runs off this point.

This last couple of years I have tried something different and it seems to work.

I fix a 'gator' around the base to keep this area dry!

It is formed with an inverted vending cup or similar with the bottom removed and the plant is laced through it at planting time.

The following picture may give you a better idea of what I mean ( must remember to take a better picture)

It sounds like neck rot to me as well ( have been known to call it stem rot)

Nice idea that Tee Gee-the other well tried method is to insert a cut off plastic bottle into the soil at planting time and water via that.

F1 cucumbers are not cheap so anything to prevent rot is a very good move
