After a previous posting I made a received several emails saying that they would like to hear from a A4A member about life over here in Brittany.

Things are going well.  I have had to put many veggie plants into borders as there is no time for my husband, Noel, to make beds for them.  I have a long term neck problem that makes things like this impossible for me.

Our house is two barns joined together and goodness knows how the roof stayed on.  Noel has taken three weeks off work to put a new one on.  It is amazing the amount of people that offer to help then are suddenly busy.  It was a national holiday on Friday (8/5/45), his (French) foreman (both are carpenters), turned up unexpectedand they made massive progress.  My French is okish but I had a lovely time in the sun chatting with his OH, I know I have made a good friend.

I used to read books about people moving abroad and the times they had renovating and intergrating.  It is weird, brilliant, difficult and ultimately great for 'our' family.

I will post some pics of the new roof below.

You couldn't make it up!

I have read many books about people doing this sort of thing. ;D

I think you should make a note of all your adventures and write your own book.

There is a big market for it ;D

Good luck with it all :)

Well done - new roofs are scary things, we had 1 done a couple of years ago and standing inside looking up at nothing but sky scared the pants off me!!! But must say its worth the hassle for the peace of mind afterwards tho
And isn't it funny how you meet and make new friends?
