Mine have bolted too....  ???

princescruffster

Mine too... guess it's the changeable weather and lack of rain.  Rabbit enjoyed them though

Tee Gee

I thought of the weather at first but the fact you got some to grow properly doesn't suggest this.

Have the 'blown' ones suffered from root rock/disturbance ?

RSJK

It is just one of those things that happen to cabbage that has been planted in September time and, it is down to changeable weather we used to get it a lot in the fields one day you would not see any that had gone to seed and the next you would see a load of yellow flowers.

What was the variety you grew has I do not seem to have much of mine go to seed now that I use F1 varieties.

I grew Durham Early and one of them has bolted!!

Plants will go to seed if they feel that their life is coming to and end, to preserve the species.

Moving them or lack of water can induce this.

Tinkie_Bear

Mine have bolted too but I did move them a couple of months ago  ::)

Mine are Hispi F1 and I am still going to eat them, just as individual leaves not heads of cabbage, might even try the flowers ala yellow sprouting - what's the worst that can happen!

Tinkie.....Hispi is not a good variety to stand the winter months I would suggest you try  F1 Duncan or Advantage

Yep, mine bolted as well, but I still got some leaves off them so not all was lost.  ;D ;D ;D
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

I grew excel and they are fine but Steve next door grew some others and his have all gone to seed. Still he can have some of ours
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Duke Ellington

I ate my bolted Durham Early today and it was lovely :)
