Limousin Lass

Being very frugal my father used to cut any large seed potatoes into smaller pieces, making sure each piece had an eye, he used to dip the cut sides in some sort of powder to seal the cuts.  Does anyone know what the powder he used might have been.

Just a general fungicide would do it...

Flowers of Sulphur, I recognise the name now that you have kindly reminded me.
I discovered a couple of large potatoes that have started sprouting so will go and have a look today to see if I can find it here in France.

We used to use FOS. If we were without this, we used to rub cut end in fine ashes. Both worked fine ..
