Thanks manics, will get my mum to get me some not got an Aldi near me, was reluctant to use any but I think I will have to, I would be devastated to loose my first lottie crops  :)

Beer traps work well Lushy... but stink a bit when you don't empty them regularly...  :-\

I use loads of them so thanks for the tip.

Lushy - these are not slug pellets, which I would never use. These stop slugs and snails from attacking your plants as they simply can't walk (or whatever it is slugs do!) on them. The granuals are completely harmless to wildlife and your plants though so quite safe to use.

Oh right, thanks they sound good, will def get some then.

Will try beer traps too, will av to do it without OH's knowledge, don't think he can cope with the concept - he thinks they should be white wine traps - cant think why!  ;D

I use them in pots round the hostas, and they definitely seem to stop the worst of the attacks. Trouble is I'd need tons of the stuff for my plottie  :(
