Hi there
For some reason this year I have had virtually zero germination with my broad beans. They are new seeds ( variety express) and I have tried germinating then all sorts of ways, which in the past has worked. Am I too late to try yet again ? Shall I give up and buy some plug plants from the nursery ?  Ooh help please, my husband loves broad beans ???

....bhoy the loight of the full moone, turning thricewise widdershins plaaaahnt your beans upright with cursed earth but blessed water.....

or possibly use some Cheshunt compound to water them the first few times cos halo blight was a bugger for me on my first plantings indoors.......

I sow mine direct in the ground where they are going to grow.
Some I sowed a couple of weeks ago are now showing. Another variety I only sowed last week.
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

Not too late, they will catch up, but do it straight away.

Not too late but watch the watering & temperature!

Somewhere between 40°F and 60°F (4°-16°C) is enough and a good soaking at sowing time should see them through to germination time!

You can grow broadbeans right through the summer if you want to !

I hope not cos mine are just peeping through the compo
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

I sow broad beans thro April as we love them and I like  plenty.  The only reason I would not plant late is if I needed  the ground for leeks etc..
