Did you know that Gardening was contributing towards the Government's targets for improving the nation's fitness for 2012.  I'm sure we're all delighted to be contributing so much.  Link here:

Just a comment - I remember signing a petition for the allotment holders who were being turfed off of their plots to make way for the Olympic village. Haven't really had an update, but now having seen two "green" legacies from 2012 Olympics (this one, and roof top growing of vegetables), just wondered whether the allotment folk hung onto their plots?

We sometimes forget the future promises don't make up for past injustices

Im sure they lost their plots and this green legacy nonsense is just a smokescreen :(

While I'm on can anyone suggest why when I put in a smilie I sometimes loos ethe text I typed in before it?

just googled Manor Park Allotments and this came up:

http://www.lifeisland.org/

seems there's a programme on about the Olympics this Wednesday that briefly mentions the allotments in passing, but the blog has more detailed info

What a bunch of hypocrites. The money spent on the Olympics would probably pay for everyone to have free gym membership for life!

Yes but you know what happens with gym membership - gets used once or twice then forgotten about! I'd much rather be outdoors and gardening any day than being in a sweaty smelly gym  :D
