It seeds everywhere, but surely mulch will control it.

I dont like mulch very much and it seeds like a carpet on a couple of beds.

I'd gladly trade my ground elder and creeping perennial thistle for couch grass, which is a doddle to get rid of in comparison. haven't started properly on the ground elder yet, covered it in plastic and ignored it so far, but the thistle is a nightmare - I started a thread on mystery roots when I took on my plot a couple of years ago, and this is what they turned out to be... like white unravelled knitting, yards and yards of the stuff, some over two spits deep, and it's SO brittle. my heart sinks every time I see another thistle poking its head up in the middle of what I thought was a nice clean bed.

Froglegs

This! i just cannot get rid of the bugger, easy to pull up and hoe but as they say one years seed seven years weeds,it just seems i get them all in the same year. :'(

Washing pots is top of my hate list.  Decided this year to use only disposable ones.  Newspaper shaped ones, bottom of milk cartons and loo rolls.  But I can't bring myself to throw away those pots stacked in the shed.

Keeping on top of the slugs / snails that are very prolific here in lovely damp Scotland.

Oh, and getting rid of ground elder too.... >:(

That's speedwell Froglegs..  :)
I know what it's called Sads but how do you slow it down. :-\

I heard that speedwell doesn't seed in this country, but I don't think I believe it. My brother has a speedwell lawn, he tells me it's the fashionable thing in East London.  ;)

It must be a different one then Helen, I have "speedwell" and slender speedwell but prefer Scarlet Pimpernel. Both speedwells are already setting seed..  :)

I find that the only hard job is saying goodnight and going home.

If you use the right tools the right way at the right time there is no hard job in the garden. If you don't enjoy gardening don't do it.

I'd second that!

Grow yer bugger grow!

Speedwell seeds all over my plot. I don't bother about it much as it doesn't grow tall enough to compete with many veg, and a mulch soon smothers it.

I put in 100' of potatoes today, compared to digging out the bindweed it was a breeze.

it depends on what you mean by hardest. Physically hardest has to be barrowing manure, compost etc up to my plot!  most boring on the other hand has to be mowing.......... too dull for words! but then I like the cuttings for mulch, so the benefit in the end outweighs the effort  :D
