Gave it another try last night but never again biggest load of c*ap on the TV. The programme is all over the place and no useful advice is given. I agree with DERYCK32 the BBC need to get someone who gets there hands dirty like the late Geoffrey Smith used to. It sounded like such a good idea when they took a vacant plot on but the chance of putting a really good gardening programme on as been wasted. Cannot a BBC editor go around the country looking at allotment sites and pick out one or two good gardeners out to make a decent gardening programme for once... PLEASE.

it's the amount of money they spend every week, that gets me, and did you see the size if that backgarden, that's really represent most people's garden doesn't it!?!

RSJK

Twoflower it is easy for them to spend money  IT IS NOT THEIRS

Why not Ace ?

Hey, leave me out of it. I would be too shy to be able to do a job like that. But  keep an eye in june when they do the programme that includes Gardeners World Live. You might just get a glimpse of Ace and Betula doing a double act.

You have let the cat out of the bag now Ace ;D

Hey,I reckon we would be quite good on the telly ;D

I'm not that keen on it  :( I've given it my best shot though. A lot of poncing about putting things in pots and smiling at the camera and making inane jokes.

It seems to be like an 'amateur' show, when historically, it has been  sophisticated AND simplified enough to appeal to experts and beginners alike.

Having said that ....

I'll be on a GW Special soon: Carol Klein covering the history of women gardeners! They filmed a load of us females on my allotment  ;D

Baaaaaaaa

I thought this weeks program was aimed at 5-10 year olds. Why didn't they put this in childrens hour and put a decent program on for adults.

PS couldn't give a sh!t who Carol choses for her course, what make the Beeb think I would ?

I just hope one of the other channels would make a gardening program, and not a bloody gardening show!,it's an insult to our intelligence. "what's hot? well not that bloody waste a time, gnomes i ask ya. >:(

Barnowl

We lasted less that two minutes before changing channel. Checked back in 30 mins later - still not worth watching.

I watch 'Beechgrove' on Iplayer (Scotlands Garden show) and it feels like good old gardeners world. What was the kid brought in for? I don't mind Alys but being shown how to sow tom seeds like a 5 year old really wasn't good!

I quite like it, its a bit fresher apart from 'whats hot and whats not' and 'blue peter' alice. It seems to be aimed more at novices I suppose and to get people interested in gardening.

Bob Flowerdew should have been the main man.

Yes Rosebud, this is a link to their website http://www.beechgrove.co.uk/apply but I normally go onto Iplayer ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/  and type 'Beechgrove garden' into the search space at the top. There is also 'Beechgrove potting shed' (radio programme) which can be heard through Iplayer, a bit like 'Gardener's Question Time'
