I planted my first early spuds 3 weeks ago.  I am going to plant my 2nd earlies, kestrel, on Thursday / Friday when I am off work.  The only late I once planted was Desire a few years since now.  Will they be OK to go in at the same time or do they need to go in later.  I believe some people do not plant them until the end of April of even beginning of May.... ??? ???  (Varieties are Majestic and Desiree)

.. and can I butt in with another question, please. Potatoes are supposed to take so many weeks to maturity ie main crop, 22 weeks (I think). Is this from planting or when the haulms first appear above the soil? I know these questions might seem obvious to seasoned growers but we all gotta' learn  :)

ours are all in, may need to cover if frosty, Bob Flowerdew plants all his early to miss blight, or at least get a good size before  :)

I always presumed it was from they went into the ground Terrier, but never really thought about it. "Lates" can go in any time as the definition is only time taken to form tubers/make the crop/tubers bulk up...   :)

I planted my Swift first earlies two weeks ago, I'll be planting the second earlies Kestrel this week, the main crop Desiree in two weeks time and the late main crop Cara about two weeks after that.
With approx. times to lifting of around 10, 13, 15 and 20 weeks that should mean I'll have spuds from the end of May through into Sepember.
Flighty's plot,  http://flightplot.wordpress.com,  is my blog.

Haven't got round to planting any yet.

As a matter of fact I am still eating last years.

Maybe I'll get round to it  in a couple of weeks time if the mood takes me.

Me too. I put my first earlies just 2 weeks ago. They were freebies from T&M so what the heck. I put my Pentland Javelin just this evening. My Charlotte will go in sometime next week and mains mid April. This year for the first time i have used some organic Potato fertilizer.Wait and see i guess.
As my soil is quite sandy i gave a dressing of Chase Organics seaweed meal where the spuds will grow. Anybody know much about this product? Does it do as it says?
