I don't have an allotment although my grandparents did.  Moved to France 3 years ago to a very run down house and garden.  OH is a joiner/carpenter and loves renovating so he loved the house.  I said 'I love the garden', great for the children no problem.

He has worked wonders with the house but I have been fighting a loosing battle with the garden.  Apart from a lawn the rest was pines, laurels, bracken and thorns.

I kept weeding and planting but it still looked as bad.  We have had some really good weather for the last few weeks so my OH has borrowed first a Manatou then this weekend a JCB, from his boss.  It looks so bare but at least we have a starting point.

The people who lived here before loved their privacy so much so that they had obscured glass on all the windows and hedges all the way round the boundary.  Now we can see out onto the country side and have some light.  Now I can start to rebuild  :)
