scented geranium

I was given a piece of scented geranium last december by a good friend, I've had it in water ever since and it's still going, I took some cuttings off it and put them in water but no roots, this is 4 weeks ago..do I have to put them in soil? thanks in advance  :)

I think you do, I also have some pieces in water (no sign of roots yet) but also stuck some in pots around the garden and they seem to be allright.
I was wondering when was the right time to pruin a large one 1x1 mt xchris

I usually start them straight off in pots this time of year on the window sill. Just nip a bit out, a bit of rooting powder and bingo.

I have the Attar of Roses and the menthol and am trying some lemon cutting from a friend as we speak.

A good tip when they have grown is to treat them like climbers with a mini trellis in a pot, (they have to come in in the winter) then the lower leaves get more light and do not rot. Place them near an entrance so they get brushed as you go by to release the scent

We were discussing scented geraniums at work yesterday, we want to get some plants that will tolerate the warm hospital atmosphere (and probably a bit of neglect) for some of our birthing rooms. I thought of scented geraniums, do you think they would fit the bill, and which ones are the most strongly scented? I used to grow loads years ago...I think the lemon ones were quite strong, any others?

Ah, maybe not the ideal candidate then, don't want women in labour made to feel even worse! ;D

I've always loved the rose scented ones like Grandma had- delicate aroma- can't believe it would be offensive or overpowering. Why not give it a try?
