Any idea why there are no leaves growing at the base of my plant? The second stem also has four flowers trying to bloom. I shall have to stake it!

Patience!

Leaves will come in due course if there is any reserves left in the bulb. Just enjoy the flowers.

I'll try to be patient then. Now my other hippeastrum (no point in taking a pic!) has leaves but no signs of a flower! Should I be patient with that one as well? Both were potted at the same time I might add.

The hippeastrum ( amaryllis) that is in flower will need feeding after it has flowered so that it will flower in future years., so often they get treated as corms and are dried off after flowering. If you feed for several months with any high potash feed and leave the leaves on , then give it a dry period before restarting it should flower for many years. You can see one of mine on my blogspot. Is the one with only leaves a new bulb or one from a previous year. If it does not flower feed it so that it will flower next year. They should only have water when first started until they flower then feed.

Thank you for that Laurie ;)
