seedlings taking over...

Can I move my onion and leek seedlings into one of those plastic growhouses outside? They are hogging the sunny window sill and there are some other things I want to get started ;D

Can most seedlings go outside in a growhouse once sprouted, or will this kill them off?

Thanks

Onions and leeks certainly can, most brassicas as well, not toms/peppers/chilli/aubergines. Hardy plants can, half hardy not yet...  :)

Thank you!

I will move them out next week then, but will keep my goji berry and strawberry seedlings inside for now.

Interestingly, I planted three varieties of onion and one leek, in two sets. One on the windowsill which is looking great, the other in an electric propagator, which aregoing to be chucked out as they look awful/haven't come up or are very leggy.

Probably too warm for them!

Yes, I find my electric propagator is too warm for most things. A sunny windowsill is plenty warm enough for onions.
Even for toms etc I put my propagator on a timer, so the heat is only on for 15 mins in every hour , and still have to watch like a hawk and switch it off as soon as the seedlings appear!

The seedlings are happy in their new home - but now weather forcast is around zero most nights this week starting Tuesday.

Do I leave them out in the plastic growhouse, bring them back in for the next week, or bring them in just at night, or will going in and out of the (central-heated) house damage them ???

I feel like a mother hen with lots of green-sprouty chicks!!
