dobies have an apple tree and a plum tree advertised with the following statement:

These trees are grown on rootstocks which have been specially chosen to be suitable for the small to medium size garden

do you reckon these would be ok in large pots?   They are £20 for 2...  just wondering if these would be better than the lidl trees....  still a good price!

how are you at root pruning? this will need doing yearly if you grow apples in pots. ;)
You couldn't make it up!

There are apples that will grow in large pots.It depends on the rootstock that the apple is grafted onto.Do they mention the number  in the catologue? Watering and feeding is more demanding in containers if you don't have the time.

I am willing to learn how to root prune!  is there a guide anywhere?

no.. it doesn't mention what the rootstock is...   have decided to give it ago and see!
