Horse paddock bark as a mulch

On my weekly trip to the stable to collect  some manure I discovered someone had swiped the lot! Still a stable girl directed me to a massive pile of used bark chippings they dig out of the excercise paddocks.
it looks ok for a mulch - to muddy for the paths but i reckon fine for mulch.


anything i should bear in mind? i was mulling over putting it around my raspberry canes and then strawberries. it's probably only got a little horse urine in if that.
