Is there any type of wood I should be looking at using for making my raised beds?

I have read that some certain wood types contain a preservative that could be toxic to the soil and the consequently the things growing in the soil.

Ideally I am looking for cheap wood but obviously I dont want to damage my soil.

Can anyone offer any advice on this?

Thanks

Pete

I use gravel boards from BQ,not cheap but long lasting. :)

Flunky

scaffold boards are great.

If there are any houses being renovated near you, try for some old floor/ceiling joists. A coat of wood preservative and they're ideal.
