Hi Guys,

With the credit crunch i just though i would share a fantastic buy :)

Last year my husband decided that we needed a new coffee machine as we had worn the last one out being a gadget junkie husband wanted this one

http://www.siemensappliances.co.uk/?5=TK54001GB&25=926

at the time it was £500 so i said nope!!

Now we have 2 cups of coffee each a day so have been using a presse to make coffee which is not the same and does not do espresso.

Anyway went to debenhams this weekend to pick up the last 2 christmas gifts and on the way out hubbie spotted a box under a load of pots which intrested him. Yes you guessed it the coffee machine.

It had been reguced from £500 to £450 to £350 to £250 and kind of just abandoned and covered in pots.

As debenhams had their 25% sale on i found someone in a suit with a phone who worked there (usualy they are important and can make decisions).

I asked in the machine was damaged? He said Nope just end of line for them :)

I asked if it was in the sale he said nope but it was being reguced again on monday to £207 we managed to get it at that price and feel great the machine is earning its money and the same unit online is almost £400 in john lewis!! Old equipment has been found a new home on freecycle.

Have you picked up a bargin? Want to share :)

Well done Cambourne7 that really was a well spotted bargain.  And a real bargain is only a bargain though if the item is something you really wanted but didn't get before because it was too expensive.  To save almost £300 is fantastic.  (Just like betula and her Christmast tree bargain - different thread!).

thanks

lets see if anyone else picks up something in the next few weeks :)

I couldn't justify £200 on a coffee maker when you can buy a kettle for under £5 and make it yourself.  Or is that just me being a tight ass... As well as my kids without shoes or clothes - look at all the gardening stuff and seeds I would be depriving myself of. ;D ;D

I expect we are talking real coffee here, not granules and stuff. I have an expresso machine that some people might think was a tad expensive, but my daughters inlaws have a plantation in the Blue  Mountains which to my mind is the best coffee in the world. So as my beans are sent to me free every few months my coffeee works out cheaper than your instant junk.

Mr Smith

Just been pricing up a flat screen 37 inch telly, already I have seen one at just under £400.00 so I think I will hang on untill after Christmas, they could be even cheaper :),

Mine was £1,500 just under 4 years ago, and it's only 32 inches!

Amazin

I know Lidl's are doing a 22" flat screen TV this week for around £220 - just about my size.

I had a look into the £50 Asda satnav they have at the moment, but the independent reviews are rubbish.

Was it HD ready? Mine was, but after buying all the extra leads that use to come in the box, I found I have to pay extra to get HD channels. Even a dvd played on my HD ready dvd player does not seem to be any different, apparently I now need blueray. After looking at the different tellys in Currys showing HD and ordinary digital/analogue, I could not tell the difference.

I suspect my LD eyesight is not compatible.
