I personaly think it's a great art, not like some coloured squigles on a piece of paper.

But if it's sprayed on private property without permission then it is vandalism and no different to someone adding their tag.

Twaddle IMHO Conceptual art repackaged so as not to frighten the middle classes. I'd sooner have Tracey Emin anyday, tho I did see in one of her tapestry pieces she doesn't know how to spell "Beautiful"

I do agree that doing it on private property is a crime, "BUT" (I may regret this) I would rather see this type of graffiti than "trev luvs trace".

Near where i used to work there is a large old derelict building which was painted grey. It attracted all sorts of rubbish being daubed all over it. some guys came along over a weekend and done a set of truly brilliant murals. The council in their wisdom painted over it again and gues what ? "trev" and his lady friend "Trace" daubed it again. Soon after, windows started to get smashed and the place turned into an eyesore. NOTHING like that happened when you had a truly excellent work of art there.

"The broken window effect"

"Consider a building with a few broken windows. If the windows are not repaired, the tendency is for vandals to break a few more windows. Eventually, they may even break into the building, and if it's unoccupied, perhaps become squatters or light fires inside.
Or consider a sidewalk. Some litter accumulates. Soon, more litter accumulates. Eventually, people even start leaving bags of trash from take-out restaurants there or breaking into cars."

I think this one was well thought out :D

I was readin his book at the weekend and there were some excellent pieces. Some of my faves are the ones he did in Palestine on the "wall / barrier" very well thought out.

i liked the one he put in an art museum entitled "rock" had a stone age cave painting and one of the subjects had a shopping trolley, was ages before anyone realised.

What terrible vandalism, Neil! It looks like that was a lovely pile of rubble & carpet before being decorated!

I wish he'd vandalise mine, worth more than the house no doubt. i heard he was from bristol started in a graffiti crew there, there was a picure of him on the net. looked an ordinary Joe, although dont know what I was expecting. Maybe 3 arms or something. lol.

You guys got a petition to keep some of his work didnt you ?

And Mine.   ;D  My OH bought me his book last Christmas and there are some fabulous pieces in it.  One of my favourites is the lover hanging from the window ledge whilst the hubby looks out.  I'm not clever enough to post it here.  Perhaps someone else could oblige?   :)
