Hi Helen.  I don't wish to sound rude and forgive my ignorance but I can't think of any other way of asking this question.  Are they meant to be that browny colour as opposed to red?

Some are at different stages of ripeness, the brownish ones top right seam to go from green to brown then red - odd huh!  The two big poblano's are both red, one is deep almost burgandy and one is an orangy red.  My camera is pants and doesn't do these lovely veggies justice.

Oh right, thanks for that.  Admittedly I only grow a few varieties of Chillies but I've never seen the 'brown stage' before, hence my inquisitiveness.  The most unusual one I have is Trifetti.  This starts out a rather nice shade of purple, then turns black, then dark purple with orange stripes and ends up a deep red.  I love it.   ;D

I grew some peppers for the first time this years, they turned a brown colour before going red.
