Well that cheered my hubby up  ;D
Just ordered 2 cubic meters of mushroom compost for Saturday morning up the lottie  ;D   ;D The look said it all when i told him  :-X

Most people I speak to say they have had problems growing mushrooms.  Can you use the same mushroom compost year on year to produce mushrooms or do you have to use fresh stuff annually?  Never grown mushrooms but would love to if I could. ???

We use quite a lot of mushroom compost.  It's good stuff.  There's always some mushroom spawn in it, but we don't get many mushrooms - I guess the digging and weeding disrupts them.

If you filled a rubble sack with some fresh mushroom compost, and kept it dark and watered, it might produce a crop.  Worth a try in the garage or cupboard under the stairs, perhaps?

If the mushroom compost was still good for giving a large crop it wouldnt be sold as compost yet.

The stuff you get is past its sell by date but having said that,keep it moist and in a dark place and with the bag rolled open at the top and you should be pleasantly suprised by the mushrooms you could still harvest.
