leggy skimmia japonica

Hi

I moved a couple of skimmias at the weekend which had got buried at the back of a bed to the front. They are still quite small, probably 1 1/2 foot tall and about a foot wide, but there are only leaves on the tips of the branches where they have been fighting for light for the past couple of years  :-[

Should I leave them be and hope they bush out now they have more space and light or do I need to take any action to help them along?
