FAO legless re tomato yeild

 Hi, I have finally found some old notes re pounds per plant on toms that might help you. I have no info on  Moneymaker as it one I don't grow but I do have a few others for you.

2001 my top tom was Prudens Purple , I had 12 1/4 pounds from 1 plant. followed by Celebrity which was almost 10.
Notable for that year was Brandywine with only 5 1/4 pounds which surprises me looking back but there may have been a reason for that.

Sunbeam  in 2002 netted me  11 1/2  1bs and again Celebrity with 10, Big Beef followed close with almost 10.

Also in this year I grew a  Goliath variety , one fruit weighed in at 2 pounds 1 ounce but there were few fruit.

Big beef I have noted was very susceptible to Blossom End rot, it is still my favourite large tom  for taste and good yeild though .

I don't know if this helps as the notes are very sketchy but it is all I have kept in ages.

I didn't keep notes on all of them , they were all in a greenhouse with early started plants.

I do have other notes but before I came back to the UK which probably is no good .

Just a contribution:

1. Agree that you get huge fruit on some Beefs, but the trusses usually fade in number toward the top.

2. Weight? Our Conchita have 8 trusses so far. These have from 14 to 32 fruit per. Average weight of each ruit is .89 oz. Averaging this over the whole plant that's, strangely, 8.9 lb.

In keeping with the 8 lb I quoted when all this started?

Thanks Tim, it seemed to me that legless deserved a place to get an answer.

I think realistically you are probably very close to what is about right, I have obviously kept records on "most" for some reason, and neglected to put in the less impressive  ones.

I know the official answer to the question is 10- 15 pounds per  plant but in the real world I would expect it to be less.

I have never grown Conchita by the way and no nothing about this one, it sounds intetesting.

Next year I am going to try to go grow a high yeild determinate type  suitable   for canning and am thinking of trying Carnival which is noted for quantity, good taste and high acid. it is Sister  to  Celebrity which is excellent producer in own right but  apparently Carnival  better still. I shall have to try to remember to take notes.
