hi i just cut the last of my caulis and the cabbages a next to them are dwindling this is where i was going to grow me spuds next year is it best to leave it bare till then or try to squeeze another crop in between now and then

You've still got time to put in some quick growing salad crops which don't matter much in terms of a rotation plan or sow a green manure to overwinter and dig it in just before you want to plant your spuds.

If you have a quick growing crop that you can harvest before next season - I would be getting it in the ground.  I will be sowing Deakin F1 Cauliflowers this weekend where my summer calabrese was.  They are supposed to be ready to harvest in December.  These would be clear of your plot prior to you needing it for spuds.
