I planted my swede back in March but many of the leaves have been eaten.
Do you think the swedes will still grow.?

I know some might say dig oe up and see but there are only a dozen or so

If there is any leaves left they will grow, besides unless you want the piece of land they are planted in for something else what do you lose by leaving them?

You can see how they are developing as the root that we eat sits half above the ground and half below - no need to dig up. There is still plenty of time left for them to get bigger. Maybe they have been eated by slugs? The leaves on mine look shredded and I think the slugs have had a feast - each time I walk past I make a note to sprinkle (organic) slug pellets around them - but instantly forget :(

At the beginning of August last year I planted 24 swede plug plants on the off chance, even though they looked like they were well and truly demolished.  Most grew to a reasonable size by October.  I would leave them be for now and see what happens.

I sowed some direct a couple of weeks ago... in the hope that the season keeps warmish into Oct so they get big enough to eat...  :-X

ours are about 6" tall, sowed in the early potato bed about 5 weeks ago, fleeced them to keep the dreaded butterflies off  ;D
